There are a number of places online where you can find video tutorials about video production and editing. I just got an email promoting the Vimeo Video School. There are many short tutorials on this site, ranging from choosing a camera, to creating slow-motion effects during editing. There are special tutorials for those who have the new DSLR cameras that shoot video and tutorials for people on a budget who want to make a special effect.
